Otranto is called "Porta d’Oriente"(doorway to the orient), because it is the most eastern town of Italy; and it’s a town rich of history, of intrigue and natural beauty. (it was in fact a byzantine and gothic center).
In 1480 it was conquered from the Turks, who massacred the population during the Battle of Otranto, killing 800 persons: these are in fact the blessed martyrs who are remembered every year on the 15th of august.
The accommodation is located in the centre of Otranto, about 500 metres away from the castle and the pedestrian area.
The beaches of Otranto are at approximately 300m (both equipped and free) from the building.
The accommodation, located in a two-storey block of a limited number of flats, was completed in March 2009. . All services (bars, restaurants, shops) are reachable by foot.
